Apparently Got Something to do with chess IX

Mrs. Keyes has woven fact and fiction together in a fascinating story of intrigue around a confederate agent named Paul Morphy.

Or so it says here.

At a loose end in Torquay today? Well if you haven't seen it already, you can have a look at Martin's latest Knightmare! piece.  After that, why not tour the second-hand bookshops and try to find a copy of The Chess Players? Sounds pretty good, don't you think?

It was a book-of-the-month selection for some book club when it was published 50-odd years ago, meaning that there are now thousands (maybe millions) of used copies on the market. I picked it up for two bucks on eBay and was glad I didn't pay more. It starts out well but becomes dreadfully tedious before too long. I finished it only by skimming entire chapters. - Mark

I bought it in an English language secondhand bookshop in MaĆ³ on Menorca last year. I've not read it.
